More details
Isn't it time we had a space to explore meditation and other spiritual practices purely in terms of what they are and how to do them, rather than in relation to a particular religious tradition or a set of beliefs?
Of course it is! So what are you waiting for? If you can make it to Brighton why not come along? Once there's enough people I shall book a room somewhere and we'll meet. There will be a small charge to cover the cost of the room.
For more information on the type of approach being proposed, see: http://openenlightenment.org/?p=45

I already go to Quaker meetings so I would be looking for something I don't get there.
The USP of this group is that it will teach members how to attain enlightenment. All of the practice and discussion undertaken will be oriented toward this aim.
There are indeed lots of other meditation groups in Brighton that may teach you how to meditate, but most will have some kind of religious purpose, or be aimed at relaxation or personal exploration. Not this one! Here, we will explore what enlightenment is and how to attain it. If you believe there's no such thing or that it can't be done - then you should definintely give it a try! ;-)
The ethos will be the same as the website that I co-host with a colleague: http://www.openenlightenment.org. If you find our website interesting and useful then you will probably find the group useful too. Another key text that we will probably use and which you might like to check out is Daniel M. Ingram's 'Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha'.
No doubt, there will be debate. But talking about enlightenment doesn't get you enlightened, so the main emphasis will be personal experience and practice.
I hope it appeals to you. It's a brand new approach, and hopefully it'll be fun and extremely stimulating.
Duncan.
